About Me

Wesley Sanders is a dynamic writer from The Bronx, New York, known for his compelling storytelling and dedication to representing diverse voices. A graduate of New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, Wesley earned his bachelor's degree with a concentration in Representation through Storytelling. During his time at NYU, Wesley focused on how different groups are portrayed across various mediums, with a special emphasis on Black experiences.

In recognition of his exceptional work, Wesley received the prestigious Clyde Taylor Award for Distinguished Work in African American and Africana Studies. This accolade highlights his commitment to exploring and amplifying the narratives of marginalized communities.

Wesley's academic journey also includes an associate degree in Literature and Creative Writing from the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree in Middle School ELA Education, equipping him with the skills to inspire and educate young minds. This background as an educator enriches his writing, allowing him to connect deeply with his young adult audience.

Wesley is currently working on his debut YA novel, "The Legend of Superdude and the Curse of the Alter Ego," showcasing his unique voice and storytelling prowess. Set against the gritty backdrop of Mad City, the novel follows Quincy Carmichael, a teenager navigating the challenges of identity and power in a world rife with crime and corruption. Drawing inspiration from his own experiences as a Black youth in The Bronx, Wesley's work reflects a commitment to diversity and authenticity in young adult fiction.

Wesley continues to write stories that challenge and inspire, aiming to fill the literary landscape with diverse voices and perspectives. His work not only entertains but also sparks important conversations about identity, resilience, and social justice.
